Clinical focus

Dr. Kurtul’s practice covers a range of digestive system and colorectal conditions. She evaluates and treats Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as hemorrhoids and other anorectal diseases, rectal prolapse and rectal cancer. Colorectal surgery forms part of her work, and treatment planning for inflammatory bowel disease is discussed with each patient on the basis of their history, current findings and the treatments they have already received. Not every patient with these conditions requires an operation, and the need for surgery is assessed individually.

She also performs gallbladder surgery, including robotic gallbladder surgery for conditions such as cholecystitis, and robotic hernia surgery. In the field of obesity surgery, her procedures include sleeve gastrectomy. Endocrine surgery and endometriosis treatment are further areas of her practice. Whether a robotic or another surgical approach is appropriate depends on the individual patient and is determined after clinical assessment and a review of the available imaging.

How Dr. Kurtul works with international patients

Dr. Kurtul consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit.
