Can Burak Özme, MD

Can Burak Özme, MD is a cardiologist at the Acibadem Bodrum Outpatient Clinic in Muğla, where he works in the Cardiology Department. Between 2002 and 2007 he worked at Florence Nightingale Hospital Çağlayan, followed by positions at Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital in 2007 and Bayburt State Hospital from 2008 to 2009. From 2009 to 2019 he practiced at Istanbul Şafak Hospital, and in 2010 he also worked at Acıbadem Kadıköy Hospital. He later held roles at Medlife Medical Center Bodrum in 2022 and, from 2021 to 2025, at Vitalica Wellness Center Bodrum, a wellness and functional medicine center, before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025. He is a member of the Turkish Cardiology Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Özme’s clinical work covers both the rhythm and the structural and vascular aspects of heart disease. He evaluates and manages arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, as well as heart valve disease and heart failure. Patients who present with a heart murmur may be assessed to clarify whether an underlying valve or structural problem is present.

A further part of his practice is coronary artery disease and the atherosclerosis that underlies it, including the assessment of angina and the follow-up of patients who have had a myocardial infarction. He also sees patients with myocarditis. In the area of blood pressure, he manages hypertension as well as hypotension, tailoring evaluation and follow-up to the individual patient’s history and findings. Treatment decisions are made after clinical assessment and depend on the diagnosis, the severity of the condition and the patient’s overall health.

How Dr. Özme works with international patients

Dr. Özme consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as ECG and echocardiography reports, laboratory results, discharge summaries and any previous operative notes, and arranges the appointment and hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the possible options. Video consultations are available for international patients who wish to discuss their case with Dr. Özme before deciding whether to travel, or for follow-up after a visit.
