Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cem Gün

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cem Gün is an Emergency Medicine physician who sees patients at Acibadem Atakent Hospital and Acibadem Bahçeşehir Outpatient Clinic in İstanbul. With more than 19 years in medicine, his clinical work covers emergency and trauma care, advanced life support, and environmental emergencies such as drowning and insect stings. Alongside emergency medicine, he also performs selected non-surgical aesthetic applications, including botulinum toxin and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments.

Dr. Gün graduated from Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine in 2007 and completed his specialty training in Emergency Medicine at İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital in 2012. In 2014 he joined Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University as a lecturer at the Vocational School of Health Services. From 2015 he held academic and administrative roles in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, serving as Lecturer Dr., as Coordinator of Postgraduate Education from 2017, and as Deputy Chief Physician between 2015 and 2018. His published research addresses practical questions in emergency care, including the use of cranial computed tomography for minor head trauma in children and adults, bedside ultrasonography by emergency physicians for anterior talofibular ligament injury, the role of contrast imaging in patients with flank pain, methods of reducing intramuscular injection pain, pediatric trauma scoring systems, and screening for intimate partner violence in the emergency department.

Clinical focus

In the emergency setting, Dr. Gün assesses and manages acute presentations that require prompt evaluation. These include trauma care, airway obstruction, acute hypoxia, and drowning emergencies, as well as advanced life support for patients with life-threatening conditions. He also treats insect bites and stings, including bee and tick stings, where the severity of the reaction and the need for observation or further treatment are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Outside the emergency department, Dr. Gün offers a range of non-surgical aesthetic and regenerative applications. These include botulinum toxin applications, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) applications, mesotherapy, and microneedle radiofrequency, which may be used in facial, hair, stretch mark, and cellulite treatments. The suitability of any of these procedures depends on the individual assessment, and the expected effects and limitations are discussed with the patient beforehand.

How Dr. Gün works with international patients

Dr. Gün consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as CT, MRI, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the available options.
