Prof. Deniz Tuna Edizer, MD

Prof. Deniz Tuna Edizer, MD is an otorhinolaryngology specialist practicing in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit at Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul. Dr. Edizer graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2002 and completed his specialty training at the İstanbul Ü. Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases in 2009. He later earned a master’s degree (Yüksek Lisans) in Odyoloji at Yıldırım Beyazıt University Health Sciences Institute in 2014, completed a Head and Neck Surgery Observership at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Eye & Ear Institute in 2015, and received a PhD in Translational Oncology from Dokuz Eylül University Health Sciences Institute in 2024. His earlier career included specialist posts at Bayrampaşa State Hospital in İstanbul and Etimesgut Military Hospital in Ankara, chief assistant positions at İstanbul Training and Research Hospital and İzmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital, and a role as associate professor faculty member at İzmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital from 2017 to 2019. He was appointed Professor at Acıbadem University in 2024, where he has served as Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology since 2022. He is a member of the Otoloji Nörootoloji Association, the Turkish Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgery Board of Qualification, the Turkish Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgery Association, the Kafa Tabanı Association and the Turkish Medical Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Edizer’s clinical practice centers on surgical and medical care of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck. In otology, he treats conditions of the middle ear and performs middle ear surgery, and he is involved in cochlear implant care for patients with hearing loss. He also evaluates patients with vertigo and other balance disorders, an area that draws on both his audiology training and his otology and neurotology background.

His head and neck surgery work includes the assessment and surgical management of head and neck conditions, and his published research has addressed topics such as fine needle aspiration biopsy in salivary gland masses and head and neck lymphomas, functional outcomes of otosclerosis surgery, facial nerve neurorrhaphy, and satisfaction with life among mothers of pediatric cochlear implant candidates. He additionally performs nasal and sinus surgery for patients with nasal and sinus disease. The suitability of any procedure is determined individually after clinical examination and review of the patient’s findings.

How Dr. Edizer works with international patients

Dr. Edizer consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
