Gökan Güler, MD

Gökan Güler, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Fulya Hospital in İstanbul. Dr. Güler graduated from Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. He completed his specialty training in Emergency Medicine at Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital in 2014. He has been part of Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2025 and currently practices in the emergency service of the hospital in İstanbul.

Clinical focus

Dr. Güler’s clinical work covers a range of acute presentations that require prompt assessment. In trauma, this includes the initial evaluation of injured patients, stabilization and the coordination of further diagnostic steps and treatment as needed. Airway obstruction and acute hypoxia are conditions in which securing breathing and oxygenation is the immediate priority, and Dr. Güler carries out the emergency interventions these situations call for. Drowning incidents are managed with the same attention to airway, breathing and circulation, followed by observation for possible delayed complications.

Environmental emergencies form another part of his practice. These include bee stings and tick bites, which can range from mild local reactions to more serious reactions that require urgent treatment. In each case, the aim is to recognize the severity of the condition early, to intervene appropriately and to decide whether the patient can be discharged, needs a period of observation or should be admitted for further care. Decisions are made on an individual basis, taking the patient’s history and current findings into account.

How Dr. Güler works with international patients

Dr. Güler consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling or to follow up after treatment; it does not replace in-person emergency care, and its suitability depends on the nature of the patient’s concern.
