Prof. Hakan Murat Göksel, MD

Prof. Hakan Murat Göksel, MD is a neurosurgeon at Acibadem Bodrum Hospital in Muğla, where he works in the Neurosurgery unit. Dr. Göksel graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1984 and worked as a general practitioner at Çorum İskilip Central Health Center from 1984 to 1986. He completed his neurosurgery training at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. He then joined the Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery, first as a specialist physician (1992–1994) and then as chair of the department (1994–2004). During this period he also served as Deputy Chief Physician of Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine Hospital (2003–2004) and as Deputy Director of its Experimental Research Center (2004). He held faculty positions at Kırıkkale University Faculty of Medicine in 2005 and in 2012–2013, and worked as a neurosurgery specialist at Bayındır Ankara Hospital and Medicabil Hospital (2006–2012), Özel Sevgi Hospital (2008–2009) and as founding chief physician of Özel 6 Eylül Hospital (2009–2010). From 2015 to 2017 he was Deputy Chief Physician at SBÜ Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital, and from 2017 to 2024 he chaired the Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery. Between 2024 and 2025 he practiced as a neurosurgery specialist at Bursa Medical Park Hospital, İzmir Özel Metropol Hospital and Balıkesir Özel Sevgi Hospital, before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025.

Clinical focus

Dr. Göksel evaluates and treats disorders of the brain, spine, spinal cord and nervous system in adults and children. His areas of expertise include brain tumors, including deep-seated brain tumors, brain aneurysms, brain hemorrhage and arachnoid cysts. In the field of movement disorders and spasticity, he performs deep brain stimulation, baclofen pump implantation and epidural nerve stimulation.

His spinal practice covers back, neck and spinal pain, disc herniation and spinal hypolordosis. In pediatric neurosurgery, he assesses and treats conditions such as tethered cord syndrome. He also focuses on the treatment of pituitary diseases. The choice of treatment, whether surgical or non-surgical, depends on the individual diagnosis, symptoms and overall clinical picture, and is discussed with the patient after a full assessment.

How Dr. Göksel works with international patients

Dr. Göksel speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
