Assoc. Prof. Hakan Yardımcı, MD

Assoc. Prof. Hakan Yardımcı, MD is a general surgeon practicing at Acibadem Dr. Sinasi Can (Kadikoy) Hospital and Acibadem International Hospital in İstanbul. He works within the General Surgery unit, with subspecialty interests in the treatment of hemorrhoids and anorectal diseases and in digestive system diseases and surgery. He is a member of the İstanbul Medical Chamber, the Turkish Surgical Association, the Turkish Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Association, and the Turkish Colon and Rectal Surgery Association.

Dr. Yardımcı attended İstanbul Erkek High School from 1977 to 1984 and graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1991. He completed his specialty training at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine Department of General Surgery in 1996 and remained there as a specialist doctor until 1997. From 1997 to 2000 he worked at Florance Nighingale Gayrettepe Metropolitan Hospital. Since 2000 he has held positions at several hospitals and medical centers within the same healthcare group, and in 2017 he also worked at the İstanbul University- İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery, Endoscopy Unit. He has been at his current Kadıköy hospital since 2022. His published work includes studies on stapled haemorrhoidopexy, treatment options for pilonidal sinus disease, the pathology of appendicitis, computed tomography analysis in gastric cancer, peritoneal cytology in colon cancer, and tumor markers in breast cancer and gastrointestinal cancers.

Clinical focus

A significant part of Dr. Yardımcı’s practice concerns anorectal and colorectal conditions. He evaluates and treats hemorrhoids and other anorectal disorders, anal fissure and rectal prolapse, and performs colorectal surgery. His digestive system work also includes reflux surgery, the management of cholecystitis and biliary tract diseases, and the repair of inguinal and umbilical hernias.

He also sees patients with breast diseases, including breast cancer and gynecomastia. The treatment approach depends on the diagnosis, the findings of examination and imaging, and the individual patient’s situation. Not every condition requires an operation, and the available options are discussed with the patient before a plan is made.

How Dr. Yardımcı works with international patients

Dr. Yardımcı consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example ultrasound, CT or MRI reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options.
