Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hepsen Mine Serin

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hepsen Mine Serin is a pediatrician and pediatric neurologist with more than 29 years in medicine. She sees children at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital, Acibadem Dr. Sinasi Can (Kadikoy) Hospital and Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in Istanbul, where she works within the Pediatrics unit. Her practice is centered on the assessment and ongoing follow-up of children with neurological conditions, including the neurological monitoring of high-risk newborns and premature babies.

Dr. Serin graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and completed her Pediatrics training at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital in 2003. She then worked as a pediatrics specialist at Rize State Hospital (2003–2006) and Köyceğiz State Hospital (2006–2008) before completing her Pediatric Neurology training at Karadeniz Teknik University Faculty of Medicine in 2011. She subsequently served as a pediatric neurology specialist at Fırat University Faculty of Medicine (2012–2014), Adana Children’s Hospital (2014–2016) and Ege University Faculty of Medicine (2016–2022), and joined her current hospitals in 2022. She is a member of the International Child Neurology Association and the Turkish Pediatric Neurology Association. Her published work includes studies on childhood epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes, myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated disease in children, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, intracranial hypertension in children and the neurological symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency in pediatric patients.

Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Serin’s work involves children with seizure disorders, including childhood epilepsy and febrile seizures. She also evaluates and follows children with pediatric headaches, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome and other peripheral nerve disorders. Diagnosis and long-term follow-up in these conditions generally rely on the child’s history, a neurological examination and, where appropriate, existing imaging and EEG findings.

Her practice further includes developmental and communication concerns. She assesses children with autism spectrum disorder, language and speech disorders, delayed language development and speech and language disorders related to hearing loss. For infants born prematurely or considered at high risk, she provides structured neurological follow-up over time so that developmental progress can be observed and any concerns addressed as they arise.

How Dr. Serin works with international patients

Dr. Serin consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages.
