Dr. İpek Betül Özçivit Erkan

Dr. İpek Betül Özçivit Erkan is a Gynecology & Obstetrics specialist who practises at Acibadem Fulya Hospital and Acibadem Etiler Outpatient Clinic in İstanbul, where she joined in 2025. Dr. Erkan graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2017 and worked at Sarıyer İsmail Akgün Devlet Hospital from 2017 to 2018. She then completed her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at İstanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine between 2018 and 2023, and from 2023 to 2025 she worked in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kızıltepe State Hospital in Mardin. Her further clinical education has focused on urogynecology, with placements at the Urogynecology Clinic of King’s College Hospital in London, England (2023), the Urogynecology Clinic of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lille University, France (2023), and the Urogynecology Clinic of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pisa University, Italy (2025). She is enrolled in the Doctoral Program of the Department of Anatomy at İstanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Institute of Graduate Education. Dr. Erkan is a member of the European Menopause and Andropause Society, the International Urogynecological Association and the Turkish Menopause and Osteoporosis Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Erkan evaluates and treats a range of gynecological conditions, including menstrual irregularities, menstrual pain, pelvic pain and dysfunction, and HPV. A significant part of her practice is menopause care, covering the assessment of symptoms and the discussion of management options appropriate to each patient. In urogynecology, she sees women with pelvic organ prolapse, bladder health concerns and urinary incontinence, where her placements in urogynecology clinics abroad inform her approach to evaluation and treatment planning.

In obstetrics, Dr. Erkan provides pregnancy follow-up and delivery planning. She discusses delivery options with expectant mothers, including epidural delivery and cesarean delivery, so that the plan reflects the clinical situation and the patient’s preferences. Each treatment plan is based on the patient’s symptoms, history and examination findings.

How Dr. Erkan works with international patients

Dr. Erkan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as ultrasound, MRI or CT reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit.
