Prof. Kayıhan Uluç, MD

Prof. Kayıhan Uluç, MD is a neurologist at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Neurology unit with a subspecialty focus on headache treatment. His clinical work covers headache disorders and migraine, including nerve blocks, advanced migraine treatment protocols and biologic agents for migraine, together with neuromuscular diseases such as myopathies, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain. He has more than 29 years in medicine and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022.

Dr. Uluç graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and completed his neurology specialization at the same faculty in 2004. In 2011 he obtained the Medical Specialization Board qualification in Clinical Neurophysiology. From 2006 to 2022 he worked in the Department of Neurology at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, first as a specialist physician (2006–2009), then as Associate Professor (2009–2016) and Professor (2016–2022). Between 2011 and 2017 he was Head of the Division of Clinical Neurophysiology in that department. He served as a board member of the Turkish Neurology Association from 2017 to 2023 and is a board member of the Turkish Clinical Neurophysiology EEG-EMG Association for 2023–2026. He is also a member of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the Istanbul Medical Chamber. His co-authored publications include work on fatigue in myasthenia gravis, the frequency of neuropathic pain in neurology outpatients, the genetic architecture of ALS in Turkey and electrodiagnostic reference values.

Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Uluç’s practice is the assessment and management of headache disorders. For patients with migraine, this may include nerve blocks, advanced migraine treatment protocols and biologic agents, selected according to the individual history, previous treatments and clinical findings. Each plan is discussed with the patient after the evaluation.

His second area of focus is neuromuscular diseases, drawing on his background in clinical neurophysiology. This includes myopathies, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain. These conditions often require careful diagnostic work-up and follow-up over time, and Dr. Uluç evaluates each case on the basis of symptoms, examination findings and available test results.

How Dr. Uluç works with international patients

Dr. Uluç consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages.
