Assoc. Prof. Müjgan Tek, MD

Assoc. Prof. Müjgan Tek, MD is a cardiologist in the Cardiology Department at Acibadem Ankara Hospital in Ankara. With more than 23 years in medicine, she sees adult patients with a range of cardiovascular conditions, including hypertension, coronary artery disease, myocarditis, heart valve disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias. She holds the academic title of Associate Professor.

Dr. Tek graduated from Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2003 and completed her specialty training in cardiology at Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2009. She began her career at Tunceli Devlet Hospital, where she worked from 2009 to 2012, and then practiced at Kırıkkale Yüksek İhtisas Hospital (2012–2013) and Ankara Keçiören Training and Research Hospital (2013–2017). From 2017 to 2020 she was a faculty member in the Ankara TOBB ETÜ Hospital Department of Cardiology, becoming Associate Professor there in 2020. Between 2020 and 2024 she served as Associate Professor in the Ankara Private Koru Hospital Department of Cardiology, and in 2025 she worked at Özel Demirtepe Life Hospital before taking up her current position. She is a member of the European Cardiology Association, the Turkish Cardiology Association and the Turkish Medical Association-Ankara Medical Chamber.

Clinical focus

Dr. Tek’s clinical work covers the assessment and medical management of common and complex heart conditions. She evaluates and treats hypertension, a frequent contributor to long-term cardiovascular risk, and cares for patients with atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease, including those presenting with angina or recovering after a heart attack. Her practice also includes the diagnosis and follow-up of myocarditis, an inflammatory condition of the heart muscle.

A further area of her work is heart failure, where treatment is planned around the underlying cause and the patient’s symptoms, and heart valve disease, which requires careful assessment of valve function over time. Dr. Tek also manages atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias. In each case, the approach depends on the individual patient’s diagnosis, test results and overall health, and treatment recommendations are discussed with the patient only after a full evaluation.

How Dr. Tek works with international patients

Dr. Tek consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultations are also available for international patients who would like an initial discussion of their case before traveling.
