Prof. Mustafa Koray Lenk, MD

Prof. Mustafa Koray Lenk, MD is a pediatric cardiologist practicing in the Pediatrics unit at Acibadem Ankara Hospital in Ankara. He is a member of the Pediatric Cardiology Association and has published on topics including unexplained childhood syncope, tilt testing, tachyarrhythmias in pediatric patients, pacemakers in children and echocardiographic detection of anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity in childhood cancer.

Clinical focus

Dr. Lenk’s clinical work centers on structural, functional and rhythm-related heart conditions in children. He assesses and follows patients with congenital heart disease, including atrial septal defect, and with heart valve disorders. He also evaluates children with cardiomyopathy and heart failure, where assessment of heart muscle function guides ongoing care, and children with arrhythmias, which may present with palpitations or fainting.

Diagnostic procedures within his practice include cardiac catheterization and echocardiography. He performs fetal echocardiography for prenatal cardiac diagnosis, an ultrasound examination of the unborn baby’s heart that may be considered when a routine pregnancy scan raises a question about cardiac structure or rhythm, or when there are other reasons to look more closely. Findings from these examinations are discussed with families so that any further steps can be planned before or after birth, as appropriate to the individual case.
