Prof. Dr. Namık Şahin

Prof. Dr. Namık Şahin is an Orthopedic Surgery & Traumatology specialist at Acibadem Bursa Hospital in Bursa, where he practices in the Orthopedics & Joint Center. He later earned a doctorate in History of Medicine and Ethics at Uludağ University in 2012. He was appointed Associate Professor at Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital in 2012 and Professor of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Health Sciences University in 2020. His clinical career includes specialist posts at Kastamonu Cide State Hospital, Balıkesir Susurluk State Hospital, Bursa SSK Çekirge Hospital and Bursa Karacabey State Hospital, service as Deputy Chief Physician at Bursa Ali Osman Sönmez Oncology Hospital, and positions at Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital, Konya Training and Research Hospital, Bursa Şehir Hospital, Health Sciences University Bursa Şehir Hospital and Medicana Bursa Hospital. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025. He is a member of the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association, the Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) and the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy, among others.

Clinical focus

Dr. Şahin evaluates and treats a range of orthopedic conditions in adults and children. His areas of expertise include foot and ankle surgery, limb lengthening, bone tumors, pediatric bone cysts and general pediatric orthopedics. In sports traumatology he manages knee and joint injuries, including meniscus tears, cruciate ligament tears and muscle tears. He also performs shoulder surgery and elbow surgery, hip and knee replacement surgery, and treats fractures and other trauma.

His published work reflects these interests and includes studies on fixation methods in pediatric forearm fractures, tranexamic acid and blood loss after total knee replacement, the axial shape of the distal femur in osteoarthritis, frozen shoulder, proximal tibial osteotomy in medial compartment osteoarthritis, and ethical issues in orthopedic surgery. Treatment decisions are made on an individual basis after clinical assessment and review of imaging.
