Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Dülgeroğlu

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Dülgeroğlu is a general surgeon at Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the General Surgery unit. Dr. Dülgeroğlu graduated from Ondokuzmayıs University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and completed his General Surgery training at İzmir Katip Çelebi University – Atatürk Training and Research Hospital in 2014. From 2014 to 2016 he worked at Kars Devlet Hospital as part of his compulsory service, and he has been with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2016. He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on topics such as axillary staging with PET/CT and MRI in early breast cancer, tubular carcinoma of the breast, prognosis in young early-stage breast cancer, breast surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic, a comparison of laparoscopic and open adrenalectomy, and laparoscopic complete mesocolic excision for right-sided colon cancer. He has also contributed to international collaborative studies on surgical outcomes during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Dülgeroğlu’s practice is the surgical management of obesity. The procedures within his areas of expertise include gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. Whether surgery is appropriate, and which procedure may be considered, depends on the individual patient’s medical history and clinical assessment.

He also treats thyroid disease and performs thyroid surgery, and his work in endocrine surgery is reflected in his membership of the Turkish Association of Endocrine Surgery and in his published research on adrenalectomy. In the field of breast disease, his areas of expertise include breast cancer, mastectomy and breast augmentation surgery. His publications on axillary staging and on the clinical features of breast cancer relate directly to this part of his practice.
