Dr. Oya Yeşim Hacımustafaoğlu Utkan

Dr. Oya Yeşim Hacımustafaoğlu Utkan is a dermatology specialist at Acibadem International Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Dermatology unit. With more than 32 years in medicine, she evaluates and treats adults with a range of medical and cosmetic skin concerns. She graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and completed her specialty training at the Haseki Training and Research Hospital Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases in 2001.

After completing her training, Dr. Utkan worked as a dermatology specialist at Haseki Training and Research Hospital from 2001 to 2017. During this period she also held part-time dermatology posts at Özel İncirli (Ethica) Hospital (2001–2004) and Medikal Park Fatih Hospital (2007–2008), all in İstanbul. She then practiced at Memorial Şişli Hospital from 2017 to 2019 and at Medicana International İstanbul Hospital from 2019 to 2022. In 2020 she served as a Dr. Faculty Member at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine. In 2023 she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services and also established the Dr. Oya Yeşim Hacımustafaoğlu Clinic. Dr. Utkan is a member of the Turkish Dermatology Association, the Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Association, the Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology Association, the Cosmetology and Dermatology Academy Association and the İstanbul Medical Chamber.

Clinical focus

Dr. Utkan’s clinical work covers common inflammatory and infectious skin conditions as well as procedural and cosmetic dermatology. She treats active acne, urticaria, skin infections and fungal conditions such as athlete’s foot, and she assesses patients with sunburn. Her practice also includes the evaluation of patients with Behçet’s disease, a condition in which skin and mucosal findings can be an important part of the clinical picture.

On the procedural side, Dr. Utkan performs mole removal and assesses birthmarks, and she offers pigmentation treatment, PRP, treatment for excessive sweating, and general skin care guidance. Her cosmetic dermatology interests include lip fillers and wrinkle care. The choice of treatment is made after a clinical examination, taking into account the patient’s skin type, history and goals.

How Dr. Utkan works with international patients

Dr. Utkan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the hospital’s international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports, including previous dermatology notes, laboratory and pathology results and photographs or imaging where available, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of previous treatments and any existing test results, a clinical examination of the skin and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their concerns before traveling or to follow up after treatment.
