Assoc. Prof. Pınar Kahraman Koytak, MD

Assoc. Prof. Pınar Kahraman Koytak, MD is a neurologist at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Neurology unit with a subspecialty focus on headache treatment. She graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2001 and completed her neurology training at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2009. In 2017 she trained in neuro-ophthalmology at Emory University Faculty of Medicine and Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, United States. In 2020 she completed a master’s degree in electrophysiological neurology at Marmara University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Neurological Sciences.

Dr. Koytak worked as a neurology specialist at Tekirdağ State Hospital from 2010 to 2011, at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Training and Research Hospital from 2011 to 2012, and at Marmara University Training and Research Hospital from 2012 to 2013. From 2013 to 2022 she was a faculty member of Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurology, where she was appointed Assistant Associate Professor in 2013 and Associate Professor in 2017. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022. She is a member of the World Federation of Neurology, the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), the North American Neuroophthalmology Society (NANOS), the Turkish Medical Association, and the Turkish Neurological Association – Neuro-ophthalmology, Neuromuscular Diseases and Neuropathic Pain Working Groups. Her published work includes studies on fatigue in myasthenia gravis, the frequency of neuropathic pain in neurology outpatients, electrodiagnostic reference values, and diagnostic errors in optic nerve sheath meningiomas.

Dr. Koytak’s clinical work centers on headache disorders, including migraine and advanced treatment protocols, trigeminal neuralgia, and the use of nerve blocks in headache management. She also evaluates and treats vertigo and balance disorders. Her approach to headache typically involves a detailed history, review of previous treatments, and a discussion of the available options for each patient.

A second area of her practice is muscle and nerve disorders. This includes myasthenia gravis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), peripheral neuropathy, and neuropathic pain.
