Selen Burçak Şimşek, DDS is a dentist specializing in periodontology, the branch of dentistry concerned with the gums and the tissues that support the teeth. She has co-authored research published in journals including Clinical Oral Investigations and the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, on topics such as furcation defects, guided tissue regeneration with autogenous cortical bone grafts, the relationship between periodontal disease and diabetes mellitus or coronary heart disease, and the oral health of individuals aged 60 years and over.

Clinical focus

Dr. Şimşek’s clinical work centers on the diagnosis and treatment of gum disease. She sees patients with gum bleeding, gum abscesses, gum recession and tartar buildup, and she provides tartar removal and laser gum treatment where these are considered appropriate after examination. Her areas of expertise also include peri-implantitis treatment, which addresses inflammation of the tissues around dental implants, as well as the assessment of bad breath and oral sores, which may be related to periodontal conditions.

In the field of gum aesthetics, Dr. Şimşek evaluates patients who are concerned about the appearance of their gums, including gummy smile, for which Botox is among the options she offers. How Dr. Şimşek works with international patients

Dr. Şimşek consults in Turkish and English.
