Prof. Dr. Şenol Polat

Prof. Dr. Şenol Polat is an otorhinolaryngology specialist practising in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit at Acibadem Kozyatagi Hospital in İstanbul. He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1998 and completed his specialty training in Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2003. He has spent more than 28 years in medicine.

After his specialty training, Dr. Polat worked at Çorlu Şifa Hospital from 2003 to 2004. He has been part of Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2005. He is a member of the Turkish Facial Plastic Surgery Association, the Otology and Neurotology Association, the Turkish Ear Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgery Association and the Türk Rinoloji Association. His published work includes studies on the timing of intranasal splint removal after nasal septal surgery, postoperative wound care in open septorhinoplasty, temperature-controlled radiofrequency tonsil ablation for halitosis, and vertigo, dizziness and imbalance in the elderly, as well as papers on migraine vestibulopathy and vestibular rehabilitation.

Clinical focus

Dr. Polat’s clinical work centers on the nose, sinuses and throat. He evaluates and treats sinusitis and nasal deviation, and performs nose and sinus surgery, including septoplasty and septorhinoplasty. Nasal endoscopy is part of his diagnostic assessment and is used to examine the nasal cavity and the sinus openings and to help plan treatment. He also performs rhinoplasty, addressing the shape of the nose together with nasal function where relevant.

In the throat and pharynx, his areas of expertise include adenoid conditions, pharyngitis and tonsil surgery. For each patient, the choice between medical management and surgery depends on the findings of the clinical examination and, where needed, endoscopic and imaging assessment. Surgical options are discussed only when they are considered appropriate for the individual case, and the expected course of treatment is explained to the patient beforehand.

How Dr. Polat works with international patients

Dr. Polat consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
