Assoc. Prof. Serdar Baylançiçek, MD

Assoc. Prof. Serdar Baylançiçek, MD is an otorhinolaryngology specialist at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit. His subspecialty is Head and Neck Surgery, and his clinical practice covers conditions of the ear, nose, throat and head and neck region. Dr. Baylançiçek studied medicine at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine from 1994 to 2001. He completed his specialty training in Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Department of Ear, Nose and Throat between 2002 and 2007. He then worked at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital (2007–2009), Artvin Borçka Devlet Hospital (2009–2010) and again at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Department of Ear, Nose and Throat (2010–2011) before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2011. He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Facial Plastic Surgery Association, the Türk Rinoloji Association, the Turkish Ear, Nose and Throat Head and Neck Surgery Association and the İstanbul ENT Specialists Association. His published work includes studies on the closure time of myringotomies, the ototoxic effect of a topical antimycotic preparation, the use of a middle ear implant in Turkish patients, the use of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene in rhinoplasty and thyroid dysfunction after combined therapy for laryngeal cancer.

Clinical focus

In the nose and sinus area, Dr. Baylançiçek performs nasal and sinus surgery, including septoplasty for a deviated nasal septum and septorhinoplasty, which combines septal correction with rhinoplasty. He also evaluates smell and taste disorders. In the throat, his work includes tonsil surgery, adenoid conditions and salivary gland diseases, alongside head and neck surgery more generally.

He assesses sleep disorders and sleep apnea, where breathing during sleep may be affected by the upper airway. His ear-related practice covers middle ear surgery, hearing loss (including pediatric hearing loss), tinnitus and vertigo. Whether surgery or another approach is appropriate depends on the individual findings and is decided after clinical assessment.

How Dr. Baylançiçek works with international patients
