Assoc. Prof. Sibel Yıldırım Moral, MD

Assoc. Prof. Sibel Yıldırım Moral, MD is an otorhinolaryngology specialist at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit with a subspecialty focus on head and neck surgery. She has more than 13 years in medicine, and her clinical work covers ear, nose and throat conditions in adults and children, including head and neck cancers, nasal and sinus surgery, vertigo and balance disorders, and swallowing disorders.

Dr. Moral graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2013 and completed her residency at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Department of Otorhinolaryngology in 2019. In 2023 she completed the Audiology and Speech Disorders Master’s Program at Ankara University Health Sciences Institute. Her early career included compulsory state service as a general practitioner in the Hekimhan State Hospital Emergency Department in 2013 and, from 2020 to 2021, at Elazığ Fethi Sekin City Hospital. In 2018 she spent time at Alma Mater Studiorum Universita di Bologna Unita Operativa Otorinolaringoiatria e Audiologia in Bologna, Italy, and in 2023 at Universitá degli Studi di Brescia Spedali Civili Unita Operativa Otorinolaringoiatria in Brescia, Italy. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2021 and became a Doctor Faculty Member at Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine Department of Otorhinolaryngology in 2022. She is a member of the Turkish Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery Society, the Turkish Professional Voice Society, the Union of the European Phoniatics and the Turkish Voice Speech and Swallowing Society. Her published work includes studies on voice therapy in organic and functional voice disorders, the effect of sarcopenia on swallowing and voice in elderly adults, voice outcomes after thyroid surgery and an endoscopic technique for transoral ligation of the maxillary artery.

Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Moral’s practice is head and neck cancer care, including oral cancer and cancers of the tongue and tongue base, and the head and neck surgery these conditions may require. She also performs nasal and sinus surgery and rhinoplasty, as well as tonsillectomy.

Beyond surgery, her areas of expertise include vertigo and balance disorders, dysphagia and hearing loss in children. Her master’s training in audiology and speech disorders and her society memberships in voice, speech, swallowing and phoniatrics reflect an interest in the functional side of ear, nose and throat medicine, including how voice and swallowing are assessed and treated. The appropriate approach for each patient depends on the diagnosis, prior treatment and overall health, and is determined after a clinical evaluation.

How Dr. Moral works with international patients

Dr. Moral consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
