Prof. Tolga Ergin, MD

Prof. Tolga Ergin, MD is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul. From 1997 to 2003 he was at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine, where he held the position of Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and in 1999 he spent time at Saarland University. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2003 and obtained his Medical Specialization Board certification in Perinatology in 2011. His published work includes a study on high maternal hemoglobin and ferritin values as a risk factor for gestational diabetes (Int J Gynecol Obstet, 2004), a case report on pregnancy during hemodialysis (Transplant Proc., 2004), and an experimental study on the uterine and tubal effects of laparoscopy in intra-abdominal infection (Gynaecological Endoscopy, 2002).

Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Ergin’s practice is the care of women with high-risk pregnancies. This includes routine and complex pregnancy follow-up, detailed ultrasound during pregnancy, and the assessment and management of pregnancy-related conditions such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. He also deals with ectopic pregnancy and with fetal treatment and surgery, an area within perinatology in which selected conditions of the fetus may be evaluated and, where appropriate, treated before birth.

In obstetric care, Dr. Ergin accompanies women through delivery, including epidural delivery, cesarean delivery, and water birth, with the approach discussed on the basis of each patient’s situation. His gynecological work includes HPV, Bartholin cyst, and hysterectomy. Whether a particular procedure is suitable is decided after a clinical assessment and a review of the individual findings.
