Assoc. Prof. Tuğçe Apaydın, MD

Assoc. Prof. Tuğçe Apaydın, MD is an endocrinology specialist in the Endocrinology & Metabolism unit at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, where she has practised since joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025. She has more than 14 years of experience in medicine, and her clinical interests include adrenal and pituitary disorders, diabetes-related conditions, thyroid disease and hormonal conditions affecting menstrual regularity.

Dr. Apaydın graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2012 and worked as a general practitioner at Tokat Erbaa Public Health Center before completing her Internal Medicine residency at İstanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine (2013–2017). After compulsory service as an internal medicine specialist at Artvin State Hospital, she completed subspecialty training at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes (2018–2021). From 2022 to 2023 she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Pituitary Center, Melmed Lab in Los Angeles, under the supervision of Dr. Shlomo Melmed. In 2023 she served as an Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases specialist at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University Training and Research Hospital, and in 2025 she was a Research Fellow at the Endocrinology Clinic of Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Martin Reincke. She is a member of the Turkish Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Association, the Pituitary Society, the European Society of Endocrinology and the Endocrine Society.

Clinical focus

Dr. Apaydın evaluates and manages a range of hormonal and metabolic conditions. In pituitary and adrenal endocrinology, her areas of expertise include acromegaly, Cushing syndrome, diabetes insipidus, Addison’s disease and adrenal cancer. These conditions can present with varied and sometimes nonspecific symptoms, and assessment generally combines the patient’s history with hormone testing and, where appropriate, imaging.

In thyroid disease she sees patients with Graves’ disease and goiter. Her diabetes-related work covers prediabetes and gestational diabetes, and she also assesses menstrual irregularities that may have a hormonal cause. Treatment decisions depend on the diagnosis, the test results and the individual patient’s circumstances, and are discussed with the patient before any plan is agreed.

How Dr. Apaydın works with international patients

Dr. Apaydın consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
