Prof. Dr. Zeynep Yezdan Fırat

Prof. Dr. Zeynep Yezdan Fırat is an otorhinolaryngology specialist in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul. With more than 30 years in medicine, her practice covers ear, nose and throat conditions in adults and children, including tonsil and adenoid surgery, nasal and sinus surgery, hearing loss in children, snoring, voice hoarseness and salivary gland disorders, as well as rhinoplasty and prominent ear correction.

Dr. Fırat graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and completed her ear, nose and throat training at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital in 2001. Between 2004 and 2009 she pursued master’s education as a special student at HACETTEPE UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY, DIVISION OF AUDIOLOGY AND SPEECH DISORDERS. She spent periods abroad as an observer physician at MAYO CLINIC, OTOLARYNGOLOGY DEPARTMENT, FL, USA (2001), UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, SOUTHWESTERN CLINIC, TX, USA (2002–2003) and FREIBURG UNIVERSITY, COCHLEAR IMPLANT CENTER, Germany (2008). Her academic career developed at İNÖNÜ UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF MEDICINE, DEPARTMENT OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY, where she served as a faculty member from 2004, as Assistant Associate Professor from 2005 and as Associate Professor from 2008 to 2009. She holds the title of Professor from the Avrasya University KBB Department (2012–2014). From 2009 to 2024 she worked at Memorial Ataşehir Hospital before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2024. She is a member of the Turkish Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, the Turkish Ear, Nose and Throat and BBC Association and the Turkish Medical Association.

Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Fırat’s work concerns the nose and paranasal sinuses. She performs septoplasty for a deviated nasal septum, septorhinoplasty when structural and external nasal concerns are addressed together, and rhinoplasty. Her practice also includes other forms of nasal surgery and sinus surgery, and she evaluates patients with snoring. In the field of facial plastic surgery, she carries out prominent ear correction.

In children, Dr. Fırat treats adenoid disorders and performs tonsillectomy, and she assesses hearing loss in children, an area supported by her audiology and speech disorders education. Her clinical interests further include voice hoarseness and salivary gland disorders. Whether a condition is managed conservatively or surgically depends on the individual findings, and the suitable approach is determined after examination.

How Dr. Fırat works with international patients

Dr. Fırat consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as CT or MRI reports, hearing test results, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
