Prof. Ahmet Ümit Güllü, MD

Prof. Ahmet Ümit Güllü, MD is a cardiovascular surgeon at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where he works within the Cardiovascular Surgery unit. Clinical focus

Dr. Güllü’s clinical work spans the heart and the major blood vessels. In aortic surgery he treats aortic aneurysm and aortic valve stenosis, and his publications reflect a particular interest in acute type A aortic dissection, including questions of operating temperature, cannulation technique and cerebral perfusion. He also manages congenital heart disease in the surgical setting. Robotic surgery is part of his practice, and he treats a range of major vascular diseases, including Buerger’s disease, with the approach selected according to the individual case.

On the venous and lymphatic side, he offers varicose vein treatment and lymphedema treatment. Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is also among his areas of expertise, addressing recovery of heart and lung function after cardiac or vascular procedures. The choice of treatment depends on the findings of the assessment, the patient’s overall health and the stage of the condition; not every patient will be a candidate for every approach, and some patients may be advised that surgery is not the appropriate next step.
