Assoc. Prof. Alper Eken, MD

Assoc. Prof. Alper Eken, MD is a urologist in the Urology unit of Acibadem Adana Hospital in Adana. He has more than 23 years in medicine, and his clinical work covers robotic surgery, andrology (male reproductive health), the treatment of sexual dysfunction, the diagnosis and treatment of prostate diseases, the treatment of urethral diseases, and urogynecology. He holds the European Board of Urology qualification, which he obtained in 2009.

Dr. Eken graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2003 and completed his urology training at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 2009. He then worked at Mareşal Çakmak Asker Hospital (2009–2010), Tunceli Devlet Hospital (2009–2011) and Ceyhan Devlet Hospital (2011–2012) before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2012. He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Çukurova Urology Association, the Urological Surgery Association, the İnternational Young Urologist Association and the Üroonkoloji Association. His published work includes review articles on the current approach to premature ejaculation, on cardiovascular diseases and erectile dysfunction, and on the approach to patients with small renal tumors.

Clinical focus

Dr. Eken evaluates and treats a range of kidney conditions, including kidney diseases, kidney cancer, kidney stones, kidney failure and hydronephrosis. Patients presenting with blood in the urine are assessed to identify the underlying cause. Robotic surgery is part of his surgical practice and is considered when it is clinically appropriate for the individual patient; diagnostic procedures such as cystoscopy are also used where indicated.

In andrology, he addresses male reproductive health, infertility and sexual dysfunction, and he diagnoses and treats sexually transmitted infections. His work in prostate and urethral diseases and in urogynecology extends to bladder health and urinary incontinence, as well as pelvic floor concerns. Treatment recommendations follow a review of the patient’s history, examination findings and existing test results, and the available options are discussed with the patient before any decision is made.

Dr. Eken consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
