Artunç Kaan Turanoğlu, MD

Artunç Kaan Turanoğlu, MD is an otorhinolaryngology (ENT) specialist who sees patients in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital in İstanbul. He has more than 23 years in medicine and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2023. His clinical work covers ear, nose and throat conditions in adults and children, including nasal and sinus surgery, tonsil and adenoid surgery, hearing and balance disorders, and thyroid surgery.

Dr. Turanoğlu graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2009, where he studied in the English Medicine Department. In 2012 he took part in the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Research Fellowship Program at the ENT Research Laboratory of the University of Amsterdam, Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He completed his specialty training in Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases at İstanbul Training and Research Hospital in 2014 and later attended the Rhinology-Rhinoplasty-Allergy-Sleep Disorders School (2016–2017) and the Otology and Neurotology School (2018–2019) of the Turkish Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Association. From 2014 to 2023 he worked as an ENT-Head and Neck Surgery Specialist at Arnavutköy State Hospital, initially under a compulsory state service appointment, and from 2017 to 2018 at Health Sciences University, Gaziosmanpaşa Taksim Training and Research Hospital. He is a member of the European Rhinologic Society, the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, the Turkish Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Association, the Türk Rinoloji Association, the European Board of Otorhinolarnygology, Head and Neck Surgery and the İstanbul Medical Chamber. His published work includes studies on tonsillectomy techniques and their histopathological healing patterns, functional outcomes after partial laryngectomy procedures, and radiologic findings after a cochlear implant subperiosteal temporal pocket technique.

Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Turanoğlu’s practice concerns the nose and sinuses. He performs nasal and sinus surgery, septoplasty for a deviated nasal septum, rhinoplasty and combined septorhinoplasty, in which functional and structural concerns of the nose are addressed together. He also evaluates and treats snoring.

In children and adults he manages tonsil and adenoid conditions, including tonsillectomy, and assesses childhood hearing loss. His otology and neurotology training supports his work with vertigo and other balance disorders. His surgical practice further includes prominent ear correction and thyroid surgery. The suitability of any procedure is decided individually after examination and review of the patient’s history and findings.

How Dr. Turanoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Turanoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as CT or MRI reports, hearing tests, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical ear, nose and throat examination and a discussion of the options.
