Ayça Aydın Kılavuz, DDS

Ayça Aydın Kılavuz, DDS is a periodontology specialist working in the Dental & Oral Health unit at Acibadem Kartal Hospital in İstanbul. Dr. Kılavuz graduated from Ondokuzmayıs University Faculty of Dentistry in 2018. From 2021 to 2024 she worked as a research assistant at Ordu University Faculty of Dentistry, where she completed her training in the Department of Periodontology in 2024. She then practiced as a periodontology specialist at Sanita Health Group between 2024 and 2025, followed by positions at Avrupa Dental Clinics and Bayındır Dental Clinics in 2025, where she currently holds a position. In 2025 she also joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services.

Clinical focus

Dr. Kılavuz evaluates and treats a range of periodontal conditions. These include gum bleeding, gum recession, gum abscess, oral sores and bad breath, as well as the routine removal of plaque and tartar through dental scaling. For patients with gum disease, she may use laser gum treatment as part of a treatment plan. Where the gums have receded and exposed the roots of the teeth, she assesses whether gum recession treatment is appropriate. Tooth extraction is also part of her practice when a tooth cannot be preserved.

A further area of her work is implant dentistry. She places dental implants and treats peri-implantitis, an inflammatory condition affecting the tissues around an existing implant. Her practice also covers gum aesthetics, including the assessment of a gummy smile, where more gum tissue than desired shows when smiling; in selected cases, treatment with Botox may be considered. The choice of procedure depends on the clinical examination and the individual situation of each patient, and not every option is suitable for every person.

How Dr. Kılavuz works with international patients

Dr. Kılavuz speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior dental reports and imaging, such as X-ray or CT reports, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous dental treatments, a clinical examination of the teeth and gums, and a discussion of the options.
