Assoc. Prof. Ayşenur Özderya, MD

Assoc. Prof. Ayşenur Özderya, MD is an endocrinology specialist at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where she practices in the Endocrinology & Metabolism unit. Her subspecialty areas are thyroid diseases and treatment and the treatment of pituitary diseases. She has worked in medicine for more than 29 years and has been a member of the Turkish Endocrinology and Metabolism Association since 2008.

Dr. Özderya graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and completed her Internal Medicine training at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine in 2007. She then trained in endocrinology at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases, completing this training in 2011. Her early career included positions at Hisarcık Health Center (1998–2000) and İstasyon No. 2 Health Center (2000–2002), followed by internal medicine roles at İstanbul Training and Research Hospital / Internal Medicine Clinic (2002–2007) and Diyarbakır Training and Research Hospital / Department of Internal Medicine (2007–2008). After her endocrinology training she worked at Şırnak State Hospital / Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases (2011–2013) and, from 2013, at Kartal Dr.Lütfi Kırdar Training and Research Hospital Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2018.

Clinical focus

Dr. Özderya evaluates and treats a range of endocrine and metabolic conditions. In thyroid care, her work covers thyroid disorders, thyroid nodules, hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer. She also assesses and manages pituitary tumors and other pituitary diseases.

In metabolic medicine, her areas of expertise include insulin resistance, prediabetes, gestational diabetes, and the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including artificial pancreas systems. She also treats obesity and morbid obesity. Her published research includes studies on percutaneous ethanol injection for benign cystic and mixed thyroid nodules, preoperative localization of parathyroid adenomas, imaging findings in primary hyperparathyroidism, BRAF mutation in incidentally detected thyroid cancer, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, insulin resistance in polycystic ovary syndrome, and metabolic and endothelial parameters in obesity.

How Dr. Özderya works with international patients

Dr. Özderya consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior medical reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit.
