Prof. Belgin Selam, MD

Prof. Belgin Selam, MD is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, with more than 42 years in medicine. From 1997 to 1998 Dr. Selam was a research fellow in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and from 1998 to 2002 a research fellow in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Yale University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She then served as Assistant Associate Professor at Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics (2003–2005) and at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine Gynecology and Obstetrics (2005–2007), and worked at Gülhane Military Medical Academy between 2004 and 2005. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2007 and received the title of Associate Professor at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2008. Dr. Selam is a member of the Reproductive Health and Infertility Association (TSRM), the İstanbul Gynecology and Obstetrics Association, the Turkish Gynecology and Obstetrics Association, the Gynecological Endoscopy Association and the Reproductive Medicine Association. Her published work includes case reports and studies on topics such as heterotopic cesarean scar pregnancy managed laparoscopically, hysteroscopic adhesiolysis of intrauterine synechiae, luteal phase support in assisted reproduction, and prenatal sonographic diagnosis.

Clinical focus

Dr. Selam evaluates and treats a broad range of gynecological and reproductive concerns. In urogynecology, her work includes urinary incontinence and bladder health, pelvic pain and functional disorders, and painful intercourse (dyspareunia). She also cares for women with menstrual irregularities, menstrual pain and premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and for those going through menopause.

In reproductive medicine, she sees patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, infertility and low ovarian reserve, and offers egg freezing as an option for fertility preservation. Her practice further covers ectopic pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and genital warts.
