Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Narin

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Narin is a cardiovascular surgeon at Acibadem Kent Hospital (Izmir), where he works within the Cardiovascular Surgery unit. Dr. Narin graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and completed his specialty training in cardiovascular surgery at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 2000. He then worked at Ege Sağlık Hospital from 2001 to 2004 and at Selçuk University Meram Faculty of Medicine from 2004 to 2011. Between 2011 and 2014 he practiced at Universal Ege Sağlık Hospital, followed by Özel Su Hospital from 2014 to 2015 and Egepol Hospital from 2015 to 2020. He is a member of the Turkish Cardiovascular Surgery Association, the National Vascular Surgery Association, the National Cardiology Association, The European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the International Society for Minimal Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Clinical focus

Dr. Narin evaluates and treats diseases of the heart and major vessels. His areas of expertise include aortic aneurysm, aortic valve stenosis and other heart valve diseases, as well as major vessel diseases. In coronary surgery, his work includes robotic bypass surgery and other robotic surgical approaches. Whether a robotic or a conventional technique is appropriate depends on the individual patient’s anatomy, overall condition and the findings of the preoperative assessment.

A second part of his practice is vascular surgery. Dr. Narin treats peripheral vascular obstruction, venous insufficiency and varicose veins. Varicose vein treatment is planned after clinical examination and review of the available vascular imaging, and the recommended approach is discussed with the patient on the basis of the individual findings.

How Dr. Narin works with international patients

Dr. Narin consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their case before deciding whether to travel; a final treatment plan is generally confirmed after an in-person assessment.
