Prof. Dilaver Özturan, MD

Prof. Dilaver Özturan, MD is an otorhinolaryngology specialist in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit at Acibadem Fulya Hospital in İstanbul. He has more than 44 years of experience in medicine and has worked with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2017. Before this, from 1997 to 2016, he was the founding physician of the Me-Di Ear, Nose and Throat Center.

Dr. Özturan graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1983. He then completed compulsory service in Kütahya Altıntaş (1983–1985) and an assistantship at the II. Surgical Clinic of Taksim First Aid Hospital (1985–1986), followed by ENT residency training at SSK Okmeydanı Hospital from 1986 to 1989. From 1989 to 1990 he served at Gümüşsuyu Askeri Hospital. In 1991 he undertook basic sciences and microsurgery training at Baylor Medical College, as well as head and neck reconstructive surgery and cancer training at Texas Medical Center and MD Anderson. He became an associate professor in Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases in 1993 and a professor in 2011. He is a member of the Türk KBB Vakfı Association, the American Academy of Otolaryngology Headand Neck Surgery, the American Academy Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the Istanbul Medical Chamber. His publications include a book on obstructive sleep apnea and snoring and a book on laryngeal cancers and the neck, and he has been involved in the ENT Post Magazine Publication Organization.

Clinical focus

Dr. Özturan’s clinical work covers a broad range of ear, nose, throat, and head and neck conditions. In the field of oncology, he treats head and neck cancers and performs head and neck reconstructive surgery, an area in which he received dedicated training. His nasal and sinus practice includes septoplasty, septorhinoplasty, rhinoplasty, nasal surgery, and sinus surgery.

He also evaluates and treats patients with vertigo and balance disorders, tinnitus, snoring, and hoarseness, and performs tonsil surgery. Whether medical management or a surgical procedure is appropriate depends on the individual patient’s findings, and the options are discussed with the patient after examination.

How Dr. Özturan works with international patients

Dr. Özturan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments, and organizes the hospital visit.
