Enes Kanay, MD

He has co-authored publications on the principles of surgical treatment of soft tissue sarcomas, amputation after limb salvage surgery in malignant bone and soft tissue tumors, two-stage re-implantation in periprosthetic joint infection after total knee arthroplasty, and early pain management after total knee arthroplasty.

Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Kanay’s practice is joint replacement. He performs hip replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery, and his published work includes studies on complications after total knee arthroplasty, including periprosthetic joint infection and early postoperative pain. Whether a joint replacement is appropriate depends on the individual patient’s findings, and the decision is made after clinical assessment and a review of imaging.

His second area is orthopedic oncology. Dr. Kanay evaluates and surgically treats bone tumors and soft tissue sarcomas, a field in which he completed a dedicated clinical fellowship in Milano. Treatment planning for musculoskeletal tumors depends on the tumor type, location and stage, and the options are discussed with the patient once the diagnostic workup is complete. He also provides trauma surgery for musculoskeletal injuries.

How Dr. Kanay works with international patients

Dr. Kanay consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit.
