Ercan Paşaoğlu, MD

Ercan Paşaoğlu, MD is an ophthalmologist at Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Ophthalmology unit. He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications, including a 2012 study in the Glaucoma Cataract Journal comparing Goldmann applanation tonometry, Tonopen Avia and the Ocular Response Analyzer in intraocular pressure measurement and the effect of central corneal thickness on these measurements, and a 2010 paper in the Japan Journal Ophthalmology on pars plana vitrectomy with and without triamcinolone acetonide in pseudophakic retinal detachment complicated by proliferative vitreoretinopathy.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Paşaoğlu’s work concerns the anterior segment of the eye and refractive conditions. He evaluates and treats cataract, and his practice includes smart lenses, which are discussed with patients according to their individual eye findings and visual needs. He also performs laser eye procedures, including excimer laser treatment, and manages keratoconus. In addition, he provides glaucoma treatment and follows patients with macular degeneration, conditions that typically require ongoing monitoring rather than a single intervention.

His second area of focus is oculoplastic surgery, which addresses the eyelids, the tear drainage system and the eye socket. This includes blepharoplasty, surgery for ptosis (drooping eyelids), treatment of tear duct obstruction in infants and adults, and ocular prosthesis surgery. The suitability of any procedure is assessed individually after a clinical examination, and the possible benefits and limitations are explained before a decision is made.

How Dr. Paşaoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Paşaoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages.
