Prof. Faruk Suat Dede, MD

Prof. Faruk Suat Dede, MD is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, with more than 35 years in medicine. His subspecialty areas are menopause, urogynecology and robotic surgery. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1991 and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Obstetrics and Gynecology Training and Research Hospital between 1992 and 1996. In 1999 he undertook training in gynecological endoscopic surgery at Hôpital Français Reine Elisabeth and Institut Médical Edith Cavell- l”Unité de Chirurgie Endoscopique in Brussels, Belgium.

From 1999 to 2012 Dr. Dede served as Chief Assistant at Etlik Zübeyde Hanım Obstetrics and Gynecology Training and Research Hospital, where he later held the positions of Deputy Clinical Chief, Training Officer and Training Coordinator of Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics, and Training Director. Academically, he was an Associate Professor at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine from 2007 to 2013 and became a Professor at Kafkas University Faculty of Medicine in 2013. He has worked within Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2015. His professional memberships include the Turkish Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Association, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the American Association of Gynécologie Laparoscopists (AAGL), the Gynecological Endoscopy Association (JED) and the Minimally Invasive Gynecology Association (MİJİD). He has served as President of the Kars Branch of the Turkish Gynecology and Obstetrics Association (TJOD) and as a member of T.C. Ministry of Health scientific commissions on pregnancy classes, assisted reproductive treatment methods and postpartum care.

Clinical focus

Dr. Dede evaluates and treats a range of benign gynecological conditions. His areas of expertise include endometriosis treatment, menopause care and urogynecology, including bladder health and urinary incontinence as well as uterine prolapse. He also sees patients for HPV and other sexually transmitted diseases and performs genital aesthetic procedures.

His surgical practice includes hysterectomy and robotic gynecologic surgery. Building on his training in gynecological endoscopic surgery, he has published on laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy, the hysteroscopic management of intrauterine lesions in postmenopausal women and the laparoscopic management of selected cystic adnexal masses in postmenopausal women. The choice between medical and surgical care is discussed with each patient on the basis of her individual findings and history.

Dr. Dede consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
