Dr. F.Rabia Ay

Dr. F. Rabia Ay is a psychiatrist at Acibadem Bodrum Hospital in Muğla, where she practices within the Psychiatry & Psychology unit. Clinical focus

Dr. Ay assesses and treats a range of mental health conditions in adults. These include anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. She also works with patients affected by eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, and provides addiction treatment for substance dependence. Where clinically appropriate, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) may be considered as part of a treatment plan.

Two of her subspecialty areas are the treatment of sexual dysfunction and smoking cessation, offered under the Smoke-Free Life program. In addition, Dr. Ay provides family and marriage counselling for couples and families seeking support with relationship difficulties. The choice of approach in each case depends on the individual assessment, the patient’s history and the options discussed together with the patient.

How Dr. Ay works with international patients

Dr. Ay consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior medical reports and any relevant imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing records and previous treatments, a clinical assessment and a discussion of the possible options. For international patients who are unable to travel initially, a video consultation is available so that the initial assessment and discussion of next steps can take place remotely.
