Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Tosun

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Tosun is a Gynecology & Obstetrics specialist at Acibadem Kent Hospital (Izmir) in İzmir. He has more than 25 years in medicine, and his clinical interests include gynecologic cancers, HPV-related conditions, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, pregnancy care, and childbirth. His work covers both the surgical side of gynecology and the follow-up of pregnancies, including those with added risk factors.

Dr. Tosun graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 2001 and completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology training at Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2007. He has been working with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2025.

Clinical focus

In gynecologic oncology, Dr. Tosun evaluates and treats women with ovarian cancer and cervical cancer. He also manages HPV and HPV-related conditions, including genital wart treatment. His surgical practice includes hysterectomy and vNOTES scarless surgery, a minimally invasive approach in which laparoscopic surgery is performed through the vagina rather than through abdominal incisions. Whether a vNOTES approach is appropriate depends on the individual diagnosis, anatomy, and medical history, and this is assessed case by case. Dr. Tosun additionally treats uterine prolapse and other forms of pelvic organ prolapse, and offers endometriosis treatment.

In obstetrics, Dr. Tosun provides pregnancy follow-up and delivery, including detailed pregnancy ultrasound. He follows pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes and monitors women at risk of or diagnosed with preeclampsia. Delivery options are discussed with each patient in light of her clinical situation and the course of the pregnancy.

How Dr. Tosun works with international patients

Dr. Tosun consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as ultrasound, MRI or CT reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes, and discharge summaries, arranges appointments, and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options. Video consultations are available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation with Dr. Tosun before traveling, for example to review existing reports or to clarify which further examinations may be needed. Any treatment plan is confirmed only after an in-person assessment.
