Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökşen Gökşenoğlu

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökşen Gökşenoğlu is a specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Acibadem Kartal Hospital in İstanbul. She works within the hospital’s Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation unit, and her clinical practice covers movement disorders treatment, spinal health, pain treatment and robotic rehabilitation. Dr. Gökşenoğlu graduated from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 2009 and completed her specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at İstanbul Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Training and Research Hospital in 2014. From 2014 to 2016 she worked as a Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist at İstanbul Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Training and Research Hospital, where she later held an associate professorship in 2020. Between 2022 and 2024 she held an associate professorship at Health Sciences University Faculty of Medicine Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Department, and in 2024 she served as Chair of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025. She is a member of the Turkish Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association and the Turkish Rheumatism Research and Fight Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Gökşenoğlu’s work centers on rehabilitation and pain-related concerns that affect mobility, the spine, muscles, joints and nerves. In the area of movement disorders, her practice includes movement disorder treatment and Parkinson’s rehabilitation, with the aim of supporting function and everyday activity through structured rehabilitation programs. Her spinal health practice addresses conditions such as facet joint syndrome and piriformis syndrome, which can present with back, buttock or leg pain and are assessed together with other musculoskeletal findings.

Pain treatment is a further part of her practice. She manages chronic muscle pain, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder syndrome and muscle and nerve disorders, and she provides pain management within a physical medicine framework. She also offers robotic rehabilitation, in which robotic devices are used as one component of a broader rehabilitation plan. How Dr. Gökşenoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Gökşenoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
