Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Hasdemir

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Hasdemir is a cardiologist at Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Cardiology Department. With more than 30 years in medicine, his practice covers both heart rhythm disorders and coronary conditions, including catheter ablation, pacemaker therapy and percutaneous coronary intervention. He is a member of the Turkish Cardiology Association.

Dr. Hasdemir graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1996. He trained as a cardiology resident at İstanbul University Cardiology Institute between 1997 and 2002, and his cardiology specialty education is recorded at Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2002. He then worked as a cardiology specialist at Gölcük State Hospital from 2002 to 2003. Between 2010 and 2013 he held the position of associate professor at Özel Antalya Memorial Hospital, before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2013.

Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Hasdemir’s work is the evaluation and treatment of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation. Depending on the type of rhythm disorder and the patient’s overall condition, treatment may involve medication, catheter ablation or pacemaker therapy. He also sees patients with heart failure, where the assessment considers underlying causes, current symptoms and the results of previous investigations before treatment options are discussed.

His coronary practice includes coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, angina and heart attack. Where indicated, he performs angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention, and the decision to proceed with an interventional procedure is made after reviewing the patient’s history, symptoms and diagnostic findings. Dr. Hasdemir also manages hypertension and evaluates patients with heart valve disease, discussing the suitability of medical or procedural approaches on an individual basis.

How Dr. Hasdemir works with international patients

Dr. Hasdemir consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
