Prof. İbrahim Berber, MD is a General Surgery specialist at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, where he works within the General Surgery unit. He then worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Hopa State Hospital in Artvin (1996–1997) and served at Kasımpaşa Deniz Hospital, İstanbul, as Tabib Asteğmen (1997–1998). Between 1998 and 2010 he was a General Surgery Specialist at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital, where he became an Associate Professor in 2007. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2009 and took up a General Surgery Specialist position at Acıbadem International Hospital in 2010.

Clinical focus

Dr. Berber’s clinical work covers both elective and urgent general surgical care. Much of his practice involves minimally invasive approaches, including endoscopic surgery and laparoscopic surgery. He is also involved in organ transplantation coordination. His published work in peer-reviewed surgical and transplantation journals has addressed laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy, including left versus right procedures, donors with multiple renal arteries and transvaginal kidney extraction, as well as clinical outcomes in kidney transplant recipients, such as patients over the age of sixty-five, patients with obesity, bone disease after transplantation and recipients affected by COVID-19.

A further part of his work is trauma surgery and emergency surgery, reflecting a career that has included clinical work in acute surgical settings. Dr. Berber is a member of the Turkish Surgical Association, the National Endoscopic – Laparoscopic Surgery Association, the Organ Transplantation Institutions Coordination Association and the National Trauma and Emergency Surgery Association. Whether a surgical approach is appropriate, and which technique is suitable, is assessed individually for each patient after review of the clinical findings.

How Dr. Berber works with international patients
