Prof. İlkkan Dünder, MD

Prof. İlkkan Dünder, MD is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acibadem Taksim Hospital in İstanbul, where he sees patients in the Gynecology & Obstetrics unit. Dr. Dünder graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1983 and completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1990. In 2011, he received Medical Specialization Board recognition in Gynecologic Oncology Surgery. From 2009 to 2016, he served as Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at İstanbul Bilim University Faculty of Medicine and, during the same period, as Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at İstanbul Florence Nightingale Hospitals. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2016. He is a member of the Gynecologic Robotic Surgery Association, TJOD, the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Oncology Association, ESGO, the Cervical Pathologies and Colposcopy Association and TRSGO. He has co-authored publications on topics including polycystic ovary syndrome, metabolic and cardiovascular parameters in postmenopausal women, gestational diabetes, intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, non-invasive prenatal diagnosis, endometrial cancer arising in endometrial polyps and a case report on a rare carcinoma of the vulva.

Clinical focus

Dr. Dünder’s oncological work concentrates on gynecologic cancers. He evaluates and treats women with cervical cancer, ovarian cancer and vulvar cancer. His recognition in Gynecologic Oncology Surgery and his memberships in ESGO, TRSGO and the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Oncology Association reflect this focus. The appropriate approach for each patient depends on the type and stage of the disease, the findings of imaging and pathology, and the patient’s overall health, and it is decided after a thorough assessment.

A second area of his practice is urogynecology, which addresses conditions affecting the female pelvic floor and lower urinary tract. Alongside this, he continues to practice general gynecology and obstetrics. Patients with cervical pathology may also be assessed within his practice, in line with his membership in the Cervical Pathologies and Colposcopy Association.

How Dr. Dünder works with international patients

Dr. Dünder consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
