Prof. Dr. Kahraman Öztürk

Prof. Dr. Kahraman Öztürk is a specialist in Orthopedic Surgery & Traumatology with a subspecialty in Hand Surgery. Dr. Öztürk graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1988 and completed his Orthopedics and Traumatology specialty training at Bezmi Alem Valide Sultan Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital in 1998. He obtained the Medical Specialty Board qualification in Hand Surgery in 2011 and, in 2013, the European Diploma in Hand Surgery of the European Board of Hand Surgery (EBHS) of the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH). His early career included posts as a physician at Dr. Filiz Dolunay Health Center in Erzurum (1988–1990) and Çolaklı Health Center in Manavgat – Antalya (1990–1992). He then worked at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic of Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital from 1992 to 2010, at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic of Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital from 2010 to 2012, and at the Hand Surgery Clinic of Health Sciences University Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital from 2012 to 2022, before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022. He is a member of the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association (TOTDER), the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association (TOTBİD), the Turkish Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Association, the Turkish Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Association, the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Education Council (TOTEK), the Turkish Reconstructive Microsurgery Association and the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH).

Clinical focus

Dr. Öztürk’s practice is dedicated to hand surgery and upper-extremity trauma. He evaluates and treats hand and wrist injuries, hand and wrist fractures, ligament injuries, and tendon and nerve injuries. His work also covers common non-traumatic conditions of the hand, including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger and joint diseases such as osteoarthritis, as well as congenital conditions such as polydactyly.

Within his surgical practice he performs microsurgery and endoscopic treatment of tendon problems, and he is involved in burn treatment affecting the hand and upper extremity. The choice of a conservative or surgical approach depends on the individual diagnosis, the findings of the clinical examination and imaging, and the patient’s needs and expectations, which are discussed during consultation.

How Dr. Öztürk works with international patients

Dr. Öztürk consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as X-ray, MRI, CT or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit.
