Prof. Dr. M. Nadir Şener

Prof. Dr. M. Nadir Şener is an orthopedic surgery and traumatology specialist at Acibadem Bodrum Hospital in Muğla, where he works within the Orthopedics & Joint Center. His subspecialty interests include foot and ankle surgery, hip and knee replacement surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery, movement disorder treatment, and advanced limb reconstruction.

Dr. Şener graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1992 and completed his specialty training in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the same faculty in 1997. He worked at SSK Göztepe Training Hospital from 1998 to 1999 and again from 2000 to 2006, and at Kasımpaşa Askeri Hospital from 1999 to 2000. From 2002 to 2019 he practiced within Acıbadem Healthcare Services, worked at Acıbadem Germany between 2019 and 2022, and rejoined the group in 2024. He served as a board member of the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association in 2005–2006 and is a member of the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Union Association, TOTBİD Artroplasti Şubesi, the Societe Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopedique et de Traumatologie (SICOT), the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EFORT), the European Hip Society and AO Alumni. He is also an Honorary Member of the British Institute of Accident Surgery. His published work includes studies on cementless hip arthroplasty with femoral shortening in high congenital dislocation of the hip, autograft use for acetabular bone defects, triple (Kotz) osteotomy for acetabular dysplasia, the strength of meniscus suturing techniques, early tunnel enlargement after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and mental status scores in patients with isolated musculoskeletal trauma.

Clinical focus

Dr. Şener evaluates and treats a range of joint diseases, with a particular focus on osteoarthritis and knee replacement surgery. His foot and ankle practice covers conditions such as flatfoot (pes planus) and clubfoot (pes equinovarus), and he also performs deformity surgery and advanced limb reconstruction. In sports-related knee injuries, he assesses and treats anterior cruciate ligament tears.

His work in the upper limb includes shoulder and elbow surgery. He additionally treats torticollis and provides movement disorder treatment. Treatment recommendations are made after a clinical assessment and a review of the individual patient’s imaging and history; surgery is one of several options that may be discussed depending on the diagnosis.

How Dr. Şener works with international patients

Dr. Şener consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The hospital’s international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit.
