Mehmet Kesikminare, MD

Mehmet Kesikminare, MD is a pediatrician at Acibadem Taksim Hospital in İstanbul, where he works within the Pediatrics unit. With more than 25 years in medicine, his practice centers on the care of newborns, infants and children, from routine health monitoring to the diagnosis and treatment of common childhood illnesses.

Dr. Kesikminare graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2001 and completed his specialization in Child Health and Diseases at Bakırköy Maternity and Children’s Diseases Training and Research Hospital in 2008. In 2008 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services, and he subsequently worked at Mardin Kızıltepe Devlet Hospital (2009–2011), Özel Meltem Hospital (2011), Özel Yenibosna Safa Hospital (2011–2014), Kurtköy Özel Emsey Hospital (2014–2015) and Özel Derindere Hospital (2015–2016). He is a member of Türk Pediatri Kurumu, the Internatiional Pediatric Association, Haseki Medical Bulletin and Merck Medicus. His published work includes a study of the demographic distribution, mortality and morbidity results of newborns born in one year in his unit, as well as articles on acute poisoning cases in the emergency pediatric clinic and on the follow-up and treatment approach in pediatric poisoning cases, published in Marmara Médical Journal and Bakirkoy Medical Journal.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Kesikminare’s work involves newborn follow-up and well-child monitoring. This includes assessment of newborn jaundice, guidance on infant colic, and monitoring of pediatric nutritional disorders, so that a child’s growth and feeding can be reviewed over time and concerns can be addressed as they arise.

He also diagnoses and treats pediatric infectious diseases, with particular attention to upper respiratory tract infections in children, which are among the most frequent reasons families seek pediatric care. In addition, he evaluates and manages constipation in children. In each case, the approach is based on the child’s history, a clinical examination and, where appropriate, further tests, with treatment tailored to the individual child.

How Dr. Kesikminare works with international patients

Dr. Kesikminare consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as laboratory results, ultrasound or X-ray reports, growth records and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and symptoms, a review of existing test results and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
