Clinical focus
Dr. Özkan evaluates and surgically treats aortic aneurysm, aortic valve stenosis and other heart valve diseases, as well as ventricular septal defect (VSD). Treatment decisions in these conditions depend on the individual findings, and not every patient assessed will be a candidate for surgery.
In vascular surgery, his areas of expertise include major vessel diseases, peripheral arterial occlusion and Buerger disease. He also treats venous conditions, including venous insufficiency and varicose veins. The appropriate approach is determined after a review of the patient’s history, examination findings and imaging.
How Dr. Özkan works with international patients
Dr. Özkan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example CT, MRI or ultrasound reports, echocardiography and laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their case before deciding whether to travel.
