Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Salih Söylemez, MD

Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Salih Söylemez, MD is an orthopedic surgery and traumatology specialist at Acibadem Kartal Hospital in İstanbul, where he works within the Orthopedics & Joint Center. Dr. Söylemez graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2008. From 2009 to 2014 he trained as an assistant doctor at the İstanbul Medeniyet University, Göztepe Training and Research Hospital, Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic, completing his Orthopedics and Traumatology training at İstanbul Göztepe Training and Research Hospital in 2014. He then worked as a specialist at Bingöl State Hospital (2014–2017), İstanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet Training and Research Hospital (2017–2018) and İlhan Varank Sancaktepe Training and Research Hospital (2018). At the İstanbul Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital, Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic he served as a specialist (2019–2021), chief assistant (2021–2022), administrative supervisor (2022–2024) and education supervisor (2024). He practiced at Özel İstanbul Medistate Hospital from 2024 to 2025 before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025. He is a member of the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Association (TOTBİD), the Turkish Sports Injuries Association (TUSYAD) and the Pediatric Orthopedics Association, and an associate member of the International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SICOT).

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Söylemez’s practice is pediatric orthopedics. He assesses and treats children with clubfoot (pes equinovarus), flatfoot (pes planus) and other foot and ankle conditions, and he performs spasticity surgery for children with pediatric spasticity. He also carries out limb lengthening and deformity correction surgery. Whether surgery is appropriate, and which technique is used, depends on the individual assessment, the patient’s age and the findings on clinical examination and imaging.

In adults, his work includes foot and ankle surgery, the management of sports injuries and knee and joint injuries, and knee replacement surgery. Non-surgical and surgical options are considered on a case-by-case basis, and the expected course of treatment and recovery is discussed with the patient before any decision is made.

How Dr. Söylemez works with international patients

Dr. Söylemez consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit.
