Prof. Mert İlker Hayıroğlu, MD

Prof. Mert İlker Hayıroğlu, MD is a cardiologist in the Cardiology Department at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul. He is a member of the European Cardiology Association, the Turkish Cardiology Association and the European Heart Rhythm Association, and holds board memberships in the Turkish Cardiology Association Digital Health Project Group, the Turkish Cardiology Association Young Cardiologists Working Group and the Digital Health and Bioinformatics Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Hayıroğlu evaluates and manages patients with hypertension, coronary artery disease and ischemic heart disease, as well as heart failure and heart valve disease. He also sees patients with myocarditis and atrial septal defect. Where the clinical picture requires it, he performs coronary angiography to assess the coronary arteries and, when appropriate, percutaneous coronary intervention to treat narrowed vessels. Treatment plans are based on the individual patient’s history, symptoms and existing test results, and the options are discussed with the patient before any procedure is proposed.

A further part of his practice is heart rhythm care. He manages atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, performs cardiac ablation in selected patients and provides pacemaker care, including follow-up for patients who already have a device. Medical treatment, interventional treatment and continued observation are each considered according to the patient’s situation.

Dr. Hayıroğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages.
