Prof. Dr. Murat Bozkurt

Prof. Dr. Murat Bozkurt is an Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology specialist at Acibadem Ankara Hospital in Ankara, where he works within the Orthopedics & Joint Center. Dr. Bozkurt graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1992 and completed his Orthopedics and Traumatology training at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 1998. From 1998 to 1999 he was at Arhus University, Kommunehospitalet- Orthopaedic Research Lab in Arhus, Denmark. He then held positions at Ankara Training and Research Hospital, Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic (1999–2000); Ankara Dr. Muhittin Ülker Emergency Aid and Traumatology Hospital Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic (2000–2004); Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic (2004–2005 and 2010–2018); Dışkapı Training and Research Hospital Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic (2005–2008); and Etlik İhtisas Training and Research Hospital, Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic (2008–2010). From 2011 to 2022 he was at Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology. His international experience includes Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, USA (2011) and Endoklinik, Hamburg, Germany (2013). He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2018 and has practiced at the Murat Bozkurt Joint Surgery Clinic since the same year.

Clinical focus

Dr. Bozkurt’s practice covers degenerative and traumatic joint conditions. He assesses and treats osteoarthritis and performs hip replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery, including robotic surgery. In sports traumatology, he manages anterior cruciate ligament tears, meniscus tears, and knee and joint injuries. His work also includes shoulder surgery, elbow surgery, deformity surgery, and trauma. Treatment recommendations depend on the individual findings, and surgery is one of several options that may be discussed.

His published work includes articles on meniscus allograft transplantation combined with bone marrow aspirate concentrate, mosaicplasty, medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction, posteromedial knee arthroscopy, and an antibiotic-releasing system for two-stage total joint replacement surgery.

How Dr. Bozkurt works with international patients

Dr. Bozkurt consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging — for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries — and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients and may be used for an initial review of a case before any travel is considered.
