Prof. Nergiz Hüseyinoğlu, MD

Prof. Nergiz Hüseyinoğlu, MD is a neurologist at Acibadem Kayseri Hospital in Kayseri, where she works in the Neurology unit with a subspecialty focus on Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Aging. Dr. Hüseyinoğlu graduated from Azerbeycan N.Nerimanov Medical Institute in 1994 and completed her neurology training at Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Medicine in 2004, having worked there as a research assistant from 1999. From 2004 to 2007 she was a specialist doctor at Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health Iğdır State Hospital. Her further training includes electroneurophysiology training at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurology (2010), sleep disorders training at Ankara Dışkapı Training and Research Hospital (2011) and stem cell doctoral education at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine Genkök (2022). Between 2008 and 2016 she held academic positions at Kafkas University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurology, first as assistant associate professor and later as associate professor. From 2019 to 2021 she was an associate professor at Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine, and from 2021 to 2024 she was a professor at Ankara Yüksek ihtisas University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurology, during which period she also worked with Memorial Health Group. She is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, Turkish Neurology Association, Avrupa MS Association, Türk Nörofizyoloji Association, Turkish Sleep Medicine Association and European Neurology Association. Her published research includes studies on obstructive sleep apnea, optical coherence tomography findings in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis and migraine with aura, and the prevalence of epilepsy among school children in eastern Turkey.

Clinical focus

A significant part of Dr. Hüseyinoğlu’s practice concerns sleep medicine, including insomnia and sleep apnea, an area in which she has both formal training and published research. She also evaluates patients with vertigo and balance disorders, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis.

In headache and facial pain, her expertise includes migraine, advanced migraine treatment protocols and trigeminal neuralgia. In movement disorders, she assesses and manages essential tremor, and within her subspecialty she sees patients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Her procedural expertise includes transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). The suitability of any treatment is determined individually after clinical assessment.
