Dt. Neslihan Türker

Dt. Neslihan Türker is an oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist in the Dental & Oral Health unit at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital in İstanbul. Her practice is centered on the surgical side of dental care: dental implants, impacted tooth extraction, jaw fracture surgery, orthognathic surgery for jaw retrusion, bone grafting, sinus lifting and the treatment of cysts of the jaw. She also manages conditions such as trismus and bruxism, using both surgical and non-surgical approaches.

Dt. Türker graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1997. From 1997 to 2003 she worked at the Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Diseases and Surgery, and in 2003 she completed her specialty education in Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery at Marmara University Health Sciences Institute. In the same year she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. She is a member of the Turkish Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Association (TAOMS) and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Association (AÇBİD). Her published work includes articles in Int. J. Oral Maxillofac Surg, J. Oral Maxillofac Surg and Int. J. Oral Maxillofac Implants on topics such as patient expectations and outcomes in orthognathic surgery, osseous regeneration in alveolar distraction osteogenesis, endoscopic retrieval of dental implants from the maxillary sinus, a bone expansion technique for immediate implant placement in the posterior mandible, endoscopic interventions in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and a case report on cherubism.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dt. Türker’s work involves the replacement of missing teeth. She places dental implants, including full-arch All-on-4 and All-on-6 treatment, and performs the preparatory procedures that may be needed when bone volume is limited, such as sinus lifting and bone grafting. She also carries out tooth extraction and impacted tooth extraction, as well as cyst surgery of the jaws.

Her surgical interests extend to jaw fracture surgery and orthognathic surgery for jaw retrusion. For patients who grind or clench their teeth, she offers bruxism treatment with Botox and night guard therapy, and she treats trismus, the restricted opening of the mouth. Which option is appropriate depends on the individual findings and is discussed with the patient after examination.

How Dt. Türker works with international patients

Dt. Türker consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as dental or panoramic X-rays, CT scans, laboratory results and any previous operative notes or discharge summaries, and arranges the appointment and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination of the teeth and jaws, and a discussion of the possible options.
