Prof. Dr. Ömer Bayır

Prof. Dr. Ömer Bayır is an otorhinolaryngology specialist with a subspecialty in head and neck surgery. He practises in the Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) unit at Acibadem Maslak Hospital and Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul, having joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2026. He has more than 22 years of experience in medicine, with a professional background that combines clinical work, surgical training roles and academic activity.

Dr. Bayır graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and worked as a research assistant in ENT Diseases at the same faculty from 2005 to 2010, completing his otorhinolaryngology training there in 2010. He then joined S.B.Ü. Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital, where he served as a specialist doctor (2010–2013), chief resident (2013–2018) and training officer (2018–2022), and where he received his associate professorship in 2017. In 2017 he completed an observation fellowship in robotic surgery and head and neck surgery at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan. He attended the Otorhinolaryngology Schools of the Turkish Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Association, including the Head and Neck and Thyroid Surgery School (2014), the Rhinology-Rhinoplasty-Allergy-Sleep School (2016) and the Facial Plastic Surgery School (2017). In 2022 he was a training officer at Etlik City Hospital and an examination commission member of the Turkish ENT and Head and Neck Surgery Board. He served as a guest faculty member at Ankara Medipol University Faculty of Medicine (2025–2026), and in 2026 he received the title of professor in otorhinolaryngology at Health Sciences University and a PhD in Cancer Biology from Yıldırım Beyazıt University. He is a member of organizations including the Turkish Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Association, the Confederation of European ORL-HNS, the Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS) and the Baş Boyun Kanserleri Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Bayır’s clinical work centers on head and neck cancers, including tongue and tongue base cancer, oral cancer, laryngeal cancer and salivary gland cancer. He also evaluates and treats non-cancerous salivary gland diseases and performs head and neck surgery more broadly. His practice further includes thyroid surgery and nasal and sinus surgery.

Dr. Bayır consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
